Representing over 83,000 proud union electrical workers, the CSAEW, known as the California State Association of Electrical Workers, has worked tirelessly for nearly 100 years to improve the health and safety conditions for our diverse membership. You will find us on thousands of jobsites, working across hundreds of classifications – from construction electricians to high voltage linemen to sound and tele-communications to public works administration.Â
We build stronger communities and advocate for workers every day. Our Apprenticeships and community programs – like VEEP, 2nd Call and #HoMEwork – offer veterans, the formerly incarcerated, and underserved community members high quality careers with great wages and benefits.
CSAEW is part of the powerful International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) which represents 820,000 members nationwide.
We are proud of our record of achievements to advance electrical worker priorities, securely power Californian homes, and advance clean renewable energy. But we won’t stop until all workers in the electrical industry are organized with better wages and safe working conditions.

The CADEMO floating offshore wind project, with a capacity of 60 MW, represents a pioneering leap in California's clean energy landscape. Notably, it incorporates next-generation technology, upholds environmental best practices, and offers union jobs, placing it five years ahead of projects in federal waters. Situated 2.8 miles off Vandenberg Space Force Base on the Central Coast in state waters, this cutting-edge offshore wind farm spans approximately six square miles. The CADEMO initiative serves as a crucial foundational element for California's offshore wind ambitions, offering valuable data and systematic knowledge in a relatively uncharted territory. This effort is instrumental in mitigating risks associated with the state's forthcoming gigawatt-sized offshore wind projects, marking a significant stride toward a sustainable and renewable energy future.

For 20 years since 2003, DeTect has specialized in delivery, integration and support of advanced, proven Bird Monitoring and Mitigation systems (BMMS) for wind energy project developers, owners, operators, and environmental consultants. Used for bird and bat survey, mortality risk assessment, operational monitoring, and real-time risk mitigation for both on and offshore, over 500 systems have been delivered worldwide. DeTect’s MERLIN BMMS integrates with a wind farm’s SCADA network.
In response to the Dark Sky initiative to reduce light pollution DeTect developed the HARRIERâ„¢ Aircraft Detection Lighting Systems (ADLS) for automatic obstruction lighting activation of aviation obstructions such as wind farm turbines, high voltage transmission lines and communication towers. The HARRIER ADLS provides reliable, continuous 360-degree radar surveillance of the airspace around wind farms that require aircraft obstruction lighting from the ground level to above aircraft flight altitudes, automatically issuing signals to activate obstruction lighting when aircraft are detected at a defined outer perimeter.
