Despite advances in precision medicine, there remains a significant disparity in genomic testing and its application for people of color. Current genomic databases are predominantly based on data from individuals of European descent, leading to unequal access and less effective outcomes for underrepresented populations. This webinar will explore the barriers preventing equitable access to genomic testing and precision medicine, including socioeconomic, systemic, and institutional challenges. By addressing these gaps, we can promote inclusive healthcare solutions that better serve diverse communities and improve overall health outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
- Understanding the Genomic Testing Gap: Explore the disparities in genomic testing access for people of color, examining the structural and systemic barriers that contribute to unequal access and outcomes.
- Advancing Precision Medicine for All: Discuss how precision medicine can be more inclusive by integrating diverse genetic data, ensuring that innovations in healthcare reach marginalized populations effectively.
- Strategies for Equitable Access: Identify actionable strategies for improving access to genomic testing, including policy advocacy, community engagement, and innovative healthcare models to promote equity in precision medicine.
